Originally constructed in the early 20th century, Clemson University’s Sheep Barn is a historically significant structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The renovation project carefully restored the barn’s defining architectural features, including its distinctive wood-frame construction and two integrated brick silos. The building, once central to agricultural research, was transformed into a modern student activity center while preserving its historical character. Key exterior repairs addressed structural deterioration, while the silos were thoughtfully repurposed for dining spaces, ensuring the building’s unique elements were retained. Inside, the expansive open floor plan was adapted to host various student activities, performances, and social events, with subtle modern updates to ensure functionality. An additional outbuilding was constructed to support the main structure, enabling it to maintain its historical integrity while accommodating contemporary programmatic needs. This renovation honors the barn’s rich history while securing its place as a functional, modern campus facility.

"Who knew that breathing life into a dilapidated barn that thousands have passed on a daily basis for decades could have such an impact? Many of us hoped the completed project would turn heads and make a difference, but the impact has reached farther than anticipated."
