St. EMO’s Pasaquan

The Pasaquan Preservation Project centers around the assessment and preservation of a unique folk art environment created by Eddie Owens Martin, also known as St. EOM, near Buena Vista, Georgia. Lord Aeck Sargent played a key role in developing a comprehensive plan for the conservation of Pasaquan’s six buildings and extensive outdoor artworks, which were in severe deterioration due to exposure to natural elements. The firm conducted a thorough analysis of structural elements like roofing and foundations to stabilize critical areas while also addressing the conservation of Martin’s vibrant, polychromatic renderings on concrete surfaces. The assessment provided immediate protective measures to halt further degradation and offered a long-term conservation strategy. This detailed preservation plan also included cost estimates for the recommended interventions and serves as a critical tool for site management, grant applications, and ongoing fundraising efforts.
