Colony Square, a pioneering mixed-use development from the late 1960s and 1970s, required revitalization to reclaim its status in Midtown Atlanta. In collaboration with Beyer Blinder Belle, Lord Aeck Sargent led the transformation, focusing on creating a dynamic public space at the heart of the neighborhood. The project involved opening the formerly enclosed retail mall to the sky, introducing accessible pathways from Peachtree Street, and updating office lobbies and retail areas. New structures, such as Buildings 300 and 500, along with outdoor areas like The Plaza and The Grove, redefine the site's urban landscape, fostering interaction and connectivity. These interventions honor Colony Square's original vision while addressing modern needs for engaging communal spaces.

"When we set out to reimagine the Southeast’s original mixed-use development, we knew it would require an eye for detail that only a few experts in the country could bring to the table. LAS helped us realize the full potential of this truly iconic destination—while keeping its original integrity intact—and restore it as the crown jewel of Midtown Atlanta."
