Newberry Customer Service Center & Storage Facility
The Newberry Customer Service Center & Storage Facility is a completed state-of-the-art facility designed to support the operational needs of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) while integrating sustainable construction methods. The two-phase project consists of a 13,900-square-foot Customer Service Center and a 16,000-square-foot storage facility for DNR equipment. The design prominently features mass timber panel technology, utilizing Michigan-sourced red pine for structural components, demonstrating the feasibility of regional timber use in large-scale construction. In addition to housing DNR operations, the facility includes a community room, providing a dedicated space for public engagement and training. Located approximately one mile north of its former site, the completed project stands as a model for sustainable building practices and an investment in Michigan’s forestry industry.
