Georgia Tech’s “Workplace of the Future” initiative, designed to align faculty and staff workplaces with core values, entrusts Lord Aeck Sargent with six Progressive Workplace pilot spaces on campus, each tailored to specific departments and locations. The pilot sites include IAC Office of the Dean, Internal Audit + Office of General Counsel, EVPR + Provost Administration, CoC Advising & IT Support, Institute Communications, and photo/video services within the Rich Building. A pre-occupancy survey in September 2021 identified four key design objectives: support for physical and mental well-being, empowering workspace choice, providing innovation tools and resources, and ensuring flexibility for growth. Success will be assessed through post-occupancy surveys twelve weeks after occupation, evaluating criteria such as user satisfaction and functionality. Each space, designed to meet department-specific requirements, uses advanced scheduling technology to offer flexible workstations, collaborative areas, and multipurpose hubs to enhance employee interaction. The transformation of the Internal Audit + Office of General Counsel space into a progressive workspace exemplifies these goals, accommodating 90 employees within the same square footage and fostering a collaborative environment. Data from qualitative satisfaction surveys will inform future strategic space planning across the campus.
