The relocation of the architectural firm's office to the top two floors of a 1970s-era building in Colony Square was approached with sustainability at the forefront. The project integrates various environmentally conscious strategies, including LED fixtures with daylight harvesting, reducing the lighting power density by 53%, and maximizing natural daylight. The design features flexible workspaces and open office layouts, with a focus on promoting movement and collaboration through a monumental stair connecting the two floors. To encourage alternative transportation, the office includes bicycle storage and showers, supporting low-carbon commuting options. Water-saving fixtures, such as low-flow toilets and pressure-reducing valves, achieve a 41% water reduction. Materials were thoughtfully chosen, with many reclaimed from the previous office, and 28% of new materials sourced regionally. The design also minimizes energy consumption by incorporating EnergyStar-rated appliances and efficient HVAC systems.
