Augusta University

College of Dental Medicine

Lord Aeck Sargent, in collaboration with Francis Cauffman, crafted a state-of-the-art dental education center designed to seamlessly integrate the college’s educational objectives with adaptable spaces for teaching, research, and patient care. The facility encompasses a wide range of specialized areas including simulation labs, dental clinics, and research spaces covering various dental specialties from orthodontics to endodontics. Supporting these are clinical facilities like sterilization and production labs, complemented by faculty offices and informal learning zones. Embodying an open, modular design, the center fosters adaptability, enabling departments to adjust with evolving needs. Shared spaces, such as conference areas and an inviting central atrium, promote collaboration and serve as orientation points for visitors. The building's emphasis on natural light, achieved through extensive glass usage, creates a bright and welcoming environment conducive to learning and innovation.
