Life Science & Biotechnology Building

Lord Aeck Sargent designed the Life Science & Biotechnology Building at East Carolina University (ECU), a state-of-the-art facility funded by the NC Connect bond. Spanning 142,000 square feet, the four-story building serves as the new home for ECU’s biology department and the Eastern Region Pharma Center, fostering interdisciplinary research and public-private partnerships. Featuring modern wet bench and computational laboratories, the building accommodates research in biotechnology, bioprocessing, biofuels, and environmental engineering. Positioned as a gateway building for the ECU campus, its design integrates with the campus master plan, showcasing science and research functions prominently.
