Georgia Tech is embarking on an innovative architectural endeavor with the creation of the new Robotarium, housed within the Callaway Manufacturing Research Center. Designed for the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines (IRIM), this facility serves as a nexus for interdisciplinary research, uniting faculties and students across all colleges at Georgia Tech. The Robotarium is segmented into three core areas: Human Augmentation, Autonomous Robotics, and Collaborative Robotics. Beyond its research capabilities, the space is equipped to demonstrate groundbreaking advancements with applications spanning biomedical research, transportation, agriculture, music, and manufacturing. The facility features a 60-seat auditorium for interactive demonstrations akin to "TED Talks," and an elevated catwalk offers students and industry visitors a bird's-eye view of ongoing robotic activities. Specialized zones within the Robotarium include a Terrain Park for human augmentation studies, an Aerodrome for autonomous flying robots, water tanks tailored for aquatic research, and diverse sand pits optimized for terrestrial robotics experimentation.
