Global Research & Technology Center
The Novelis Global Research & Technology Center, designed by Lord Aeck Sargent, consolidates several research and development functions into a single, state-of-the-art facility that enhances the company's ability to maintain its leadership in aluminum recycling and manufacturing. The 160,000-square-foot building, located near Atlanta, repurposes an existing office and warehouse space, integrating high-performance laboratories for a variety of industrial and material testing applications. The facility includes a 16,000-square-foot pilot beverage can production line, specialized labs for materials testing, and spaces designed for collaborative research and client engagement. Rigorous attention was given to optimizing environmental conditions—temperature, humidity, and vibration—across sensitive testing areas, which are also ISO certified. The design supports flexibility in laboratory layouts, allowing for future reconfigurations, and incorporates sustainability features, including energy-efficient systems, innovative use of materials, and provisions for future expansion.
