Lord Aeck Sargent, in collaboration with Point Office Architects and artist William Downs, directed the landscape and site design for the reimagined northern portion of Woodruff Park, a project integrating historical recognition with sustainable urban ecology. Located at the intersection of Peachtree Street and Auburn Avenue, the project centers on an elevated, concave memorial ring that honors Atlanta’s former mayors Ivan Allen Jr. and Maynard Jackson. The landscape architecture, led by Lord Aeck Sargent, emphasizes universal accessibility and employs native plantings that reflect Atlanta's ecosystems, such as shaded woodlands and upland meadows. Sustainable water management is incorporated through bio-retention zones that support natural systems, while William Downs’ immersive mural inside the ring creates a 360-degree narrative of Atlanta’s history, guiding visitors through the legacy of the mayors.
