Little 5 Points Community Improvement District

Mobility Plan

Lord Aeck Sargent led the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) planning effort for the newly-formed Little Five Points Community Improvement District. The project focused on creating a comprehensive growth plan for the eclectic district over the next five to ten years, integrating input from adjacent neighborhoods to ensure a consensus-driven outcome. Throughout 2020, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the firm organized a series of both in-person and virtual workshops. These sessions covered key urban design elements, including mobility improvements, redevelopment strategies, placemaking, parking, wayfinding, and streetscape enhancements. The resulting LCI plan provides a framework for future development, including public space design guidelines that respect the district's unique cultural and social dynamics. In addition, a detailed mobility study was conducted, funded by a grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission. This included a district-wide analysis of connectivity, parking, and pedestrian safety, alongside a focused redesign of Euclid Avenue. The outcomes of these efforts form the foundation for an accessible, context-sensitive vision for the district's future, aiming to preserve its authentic character while enhancing functionality.
