Discover Chastain
Discover Chastain is the twenty year plan for Chastain Park – Atlanta’s second largest park. Spearheaded by the park’s conservancy and led by a team of Landscape Architects and other consultants, the plan is the result of two years of consensus-building,partner meetings, public-private collaboration, public workshops, exhaustive historical research and forward-thinking design exploration. The plan provides actionable strategies for improving pedestrian circulation, managing parking demand, better-showcasing the park’s rich history and integrating food and beverage within what is now a food desert. It gives vision, structure and direction for unlocking thirty acres of previously-inaccessibleparkland, improving playability and public perception of the golf course, expanding opportunities for play and re-envisioning the pool as a state-of-the-art aquatic complex. Discover Chastain represents the knitting-together of special uses with signature public spaces that coalesce into a world-class public park.

The Palisades project includes massive invasive remediation followed by introduction of native species, pollinator habitat (shown above) and a canopy management and succession plan. Occasional lawn spaces (shown above) accommodate passive and flexible park uses.
