In alignment with the Strategic Plan of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Lord Aeck Sargent, in collaboration with Ennead Architects, was tasked with developing a campus master plan and conceptual design. The project began with an extensive visioning phase and site analysis. Lord Aeck Sargent facilitated a series of workshops that engaged various Subject Area Groups representing different aspects of congregational life, such as worship, education, and community engagement. These sessions, attended by over 165 congregation members, allowed participants to explore how enhancements to the campus might better support the church’s mission. The design process incorporated feedback from both the congregation and clergy, focusing on improving existing spaces while also identifying opportunities for future expansion. Site analysis emphasized the relationship between the church’s location on Peachtree Street and the evolving urban landscape of Midtown Atlanta. Factors such as access to sunlight, open space, and contextual considerations were critical in shaping the conceptual approach, ensuring that the development would respond thoughtfully to both its physical and cultural environment. The next steps will include conceptual design studies aimed at fulfilling the identified programmatic needs.
